Planning to apply for Finnish citizenship?

Most people think the language test is a box they tick at the end. It is not.

The certificate has to be attached to your application. You cannot send it in later. And getting it takes time: the test runs only a few times a year, registration closes roughly two months before test day, and grading takes around two more months.

From registering to holding the certificate, that is about four months, before you even count the months of studying.

Pick the wrong language, aim at the wrong level, or miss a registration window, and your whole application moves back.

So we put every answer in one short PDF. Ten questions, in plain English, straight from the official requirements. Read it once and know exactly what to do next.

10 questions, no filler

  • 3. How do I choose between them?
